Twenty tumultuous years of the Irish criminal underworld told through a mix of scripted drama and documentary.
Over three episodes the series uses drama, archive footage & interviews with contributors, ranging from smugglers to undercover officers, to guide the audience through the arrival of heroin, ecstacy and cocaine – revealing how each drug transformed the city & its people. The story begins in the late 1970s with the infamous Dunne family and culminates with the murder of famed journalist Veronica Guerin in 1996.
